Comparative Cultural Studies
Requirements
Requirements Print version [PDF] | worksheet | (download Acrobat)All major areas of concentration in Comparative Studies require a total of 55 credits, including at least one “foundation course” in the area of concentration; remaining courses fulfill interdisciplinary/thematic/comparative and distribution requirements. All Comparative Studies students should work with their advisers to develop a strong, coherent, individualized program. For students graduating Autumn 2007 or later, the total number of credits required will be 60 with the addition of Comparative Studies 598, Senior Seminar.
The concentration in Comparative Cultural Studies requires the following:

Distribution requirement (25 credits):
Students choose a field of focus from the following topics or others as approved by the faculty adviser. The topics listed here are examples of ways in which a focus area in comparative cultural studies can be developed in keeping with students’ particular interests. Courses from other Comparative Studies tracks as well as courses in other departments may be used to satisfy part of this requirement. No more than five credits at the 200-level may count toward fulfillment of the Distribution Requirement.
Every student is encouraged to meet with the faculty adviser often to discuss his or her course of study and to explore the precise combination of courses that speaks directly to the student’s developing scholarly interests.
