(GO TO REQUIREMENTS) The concentration in the Study of Religions will provide new options for the undergraduate study of religion at Ohio State. This subplan will focus on a range of approaches to the study of religion, for example, phenomenological, cognitive/neuro-biological, and more fully empirical approaches. This subplan will include courses on theory and methodology that are related to the study of religion, and coursework will be distributed across the areas of the arts, literature, history, and thematic issues related to religion and to different religious traditions. As with the Religions and Cultures subplan, the Study of Religions subplan relies on faculty in many departments to provide important coursework in all the major religions of the world, including ancient Greek and Roman traditions, Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Taoism, and Confucianism, as well as a variety of indigenous traditions and new religious movements.
