
Miroslava Chavez-Garcia will host an interactive discussion with Ohio State women faculty focusing on meeting and finding individual institutional needs and solutions.
On her road from assistant professor to professor, Chavez-Garcia has experienced academic life in a regional, teaching university, as well as in major research universities; managed a short term commuter marriage with her spouse in another state; and, with her spouse, is raising two children.
Chávez-García is a professor in the Chicana & Chicano Studies Department at the University of California at Santa Barbara. She has published two major books in the field of history and several articles and chapters in Chicana/o studies, women's studies and juvenile justice. She has also provided significant service to the profession by serving on varied internal and external campus committees, national review panels for fellowship competitions, and served as chair and, currently, vice chair, of departments.She published two major books, served on various committees and national review panels for fellowship competitions, and served as chair and vice chair of departments.
All along the way, she has compiled an "archive" of insights, strategies and plans that she enjoys and is committed to sharing with women of color on the tenure track.
