Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

The Ohio State Unversity

Today is National Adjunct Walkout Day. Here is a statement about today and today's activities that the English department developed. The Department of Comparative Studies have joined the English department in endorsing it.

"The department will not penalize anyone for peacefully participating in the walkout and/or showing support for the cause. This position falls in line with Chapter 3335-11-02 (approved by the Board of Trustees) that says that rules against disruption of authorized university activities “shall not be interpreted as proscribing peaceful demonstrations, peaceful picketing, a call for a peaceful boycott of classes or other forms of peaceful dissent” (number 8):http://trustees.osu.edu/…/chapter-3335-11-student-affairs.h…"

"We ask universities across the country (including ours) to stop relying so heavily on an underpaid temporary workforce not by cutting those positions but by turning them into better-paid positions with more job security, better benefits, and improved working conditions and lessening the reliance on adjunct faculty by hiring more (of them as) tenure-track faculty."
