Latina faculty members and students collaborate with 4L For Latinas

Latina faculty members are collaborating with Columbus community organization 4L For Latinas to host Columbus area K-12 girls in a semester-long weekend reading program. Approximately 20 girls are enrolled. They began on January 18, 2014 and will continue through the term with a regular book discussion club and enrichment activities. The first book under discussion is Sandra Cisneros's HOUSE ON MANGO STREET. They are also partnering with the OSU Women in Engineering Program and Ohio Supercomputer Center to introduce girls to these fields. Participating faculty and students include: Theresa Delgadillo, Comparative Studies; Pat Enciso, Teaching and Learning; Elena Foulis, Spanish and Portuguese; Yalidy Matos, Political Science; Maria Barbero, Comparative Studies.
