Teaching interests include postcolonial/world literature, history, and politics, especially South Asia, Africa, Ireland, and the Arab world. Postcolonial theory: Marxism andpostmodernism; imperialism, nationalism, and human rights; class/gender/ethnic relations in the postcolonial world. Author of articles and papers on South Asian literature, postcolonial theory, and the US media. His book, Decentering Rushdie: Cosmopolitanism and the Indian Novel in English was published by Ohio State University Press in 2010.
